WebOct 14, 2011 · As far as pres go, my favorite in the 5150 (I know the III is different) has always been Tungsol RI in V1 and Shuguang C9s in the rest of the positions. That should definitely add a bit of gain. The tungsol is a higher gain 12AX7s and the chinese 12ax7s are high gain as well but smooth.
